About

Harry Balmforth

My name is Harry Balmforth, aged 20 a student and young film maker.
I have been interested in media production since the age of 12 when I started assisting the media technician at school. I worked on a variety of productions from school musicals to videos for assemblies. As an assistant I have also worked at other schools, auditoriums and theatres. These experiences inspired me to take Film studies at A-level and then enrol on a BTEC Media course (TV and Film) level three. I enjoyed developing my analytical skills and gaining a wide knowledge of media concepts and theories and using this knowledge in practical applications.

Since 2008 I’ve Produced, Directed and Edited short films, a music video, advert and a number of documentaries. I’ve also been a member of the crew on a number of film shoots ranging from being key grip to a cameraman. I’ve created most of my films with very good quality equipment as I was lucky enough to attend a school with a very wide range of expert equipment. So my knowledge of working with kit old and new is vast and at a very high standard, mainly working with digital Sony EX1 and now EX3 I am currently a second year student studying Television and Film Production at the University of Portsmouth.

Looking through my productions you can see the order in which they were created and what equipment was used to do so.

I would also like to thank Darren Jewell for building this website for me. You can find him at www.diamond-websites.co.uk
